Ethical Hacking

Those who practice ethical hacking are called white hats. This type of hacker is also known as a penetration tester. These white hats are employed by companies and other organisations to test the security of their systems.

Ethical hacking tactics

Ethical hackers do not penetrate IT systems with malicious motives; rather, they do it in order to identify the weaknesses of the systems so that they can improve security and protection. A group of such hackers is called a tiger team. They employ a variety of methods, which can include social engineering tactics, hacking tools and security evasion manoeuvres so that they can gain entry to a system’s secured areas. In ethical hacking scenarios, two teams of white hats often compete against each other. The red team aims to attack an IT system that is in place, while the blue team attempts to defend it.
