Ways of Keeping Your Office Computers Secure From Online Threats
Some of the greatest problems facing many offices today are the threats that come from the Web. We are talking about malware such as viruses and worms, which spawn by the hundreds every day. Most of these unwanted programs have the capacity to wipe out a whole hard disk of information. However, people are not helpless against these threats, since antivirus and antimalware programs are available to curb the dangers.
However, even with antivirus programs, some viruses still manage to invade computers in the office. This could be because of the owner’s irresponsibility. Antivirus and antimalware must be constantly updated with the latest information so that they can easily detect new viruses. Without updates, an antivirus is like a warrior with the best weapon, but who does not know what enemy he must fight.
Offices must create an IT policy which would prohibit Web browsing and downloading activities, which are unrelated to work. This is because lots of viruses and malware that infect computers come from certain websites and downloaded files. Finally, the most effective protection would be having a backup drive for each computer. This is crucial because, just in case a computer does become a victim of a nasty virus attack, you will still have a copy of important documents.
